There are rumors that OSX Leopard will have a Bit Torrent client built in. This would allow users to donate their upload bandwidth for software patches, etc. in exchange for credit like iTunes songs.

Apple Releases Boot Camp

Apple has announced that the upcoming version of OSX will have the ability to boot Windows on Intel Macs. For now it’s called Boot Camp and called be downloaded from here and installed on Tiger. This program partitions your hard drive and then burns a CD with all the drivers needed for Windows. Once installed you just need to press the Option Key (“Alt”) and the Mac gives you a choice of what OS to boot into.

Apple has just announced the WWDC will be scheduled for August 7-11 in San Francisco. Jobs will also preview the OS X 10.5 (Leopard) at WWDC 2006. But at a ticket price of $1,295 people would rather buy a new iMac!

New Nanos / No more shuffles ?

Apple has gone out of their way and quietly introduced a 1 GB Nano for $149. And on the other hand the Shuffle prices have been slashed down to $99/$69 for the 1Gb/512Mb respectively. Looks like they will be phasing out the Shuffles soon. So if you like the Shuffle better than the Nano, this is probably the best time to get it.

Apple Tablet Coming Soon?

This site has a story about new patents filed by Apple which look like a Tablet. One of the most interesting part of the patent is the pinching action. Using the index finger and a thumb a user for example zoom in and zoom out using the pinching action. Also there is the iPod like interface built in.

No more Windows Media Player for Mac

Microsoft has dropped Windows Media Player development for the Mac. Although it will still allow to users to download the current version from their website but there will no future updates. Instead users are recommended to download the Flip4Mac plugin for Apple Quicktime. The Flip4Mac plugin allows users to play WMV files in Quicktime.

MacBook and iMac won’t run Windows XP

When Apple announced it’s switch to Intel processors, people rejoiced since they thought they could now dual boot Mac and Windows instead of running it through a emulator (Virtual PC). But Apple has gone one step further by using the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) developed by Intel instead of BIOS, in it’s MacBooks and iMacs. On the other hand Windows does not use EFI as a result the current versions of Windows will not dual boot on the MacBooks and iMacs. But do not despair as Windows Vista will most probably support EFI.

As predicted earlier by Alligator, Apple has announced it’s first portable dual-core laptop – the MacBook Pro. At $1,999 it’s a steal. Other interesting features include the built-in iSight web cam and a Magsafe power cord which automatically guide the power cord into the port.

Along with the MacBook Pro comes the first dual core Intel powered iMac.

The pro apps (Final Cut, Aperature & Logic Pro) will be universal in March.
